The jail authorities have filed a complaint against AT Group CMD Pradip Sethi— with a local police station in Odisha capital— who had allegedly attempted suicide late on Saturday night, a top police official said today.

The Jharpada Special Jail Superintendent Rabindranath Swain has lodged a complaint with Laxmisagar police station against Pradip Sethi for attempting to commit suicide, IG (Prisons) Arun Kumar Ray informed media today.

“Pradip Sethi had attempted to commit suicide by slashing his wrist at around 9.30 pm on Saturday. He had suffered a minor injury on his hand. The jail medical officer has submitted a report in this regard,” Ray said.

“Sethi had threatened to commit suicide. It is a cognizable offence under law. So, the jail authorities have filed a complaint against him,” he added.

If required we would seek court’s permission to shift Sethi to a single cell, the top cop expressed.

Notably, Sethi is behind bars for allegedly duping investors of crores of rupees and his Non-Banking Financial Institution (NBFI) is one of the major players in the mega chit fund scam in the state.
