At least seven persons were injured in a group clash between villagers of Ujanipada and Siula under Pipili block in Odisha’s Puri district today.
While four of them who were seriously injured have been shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, three others who were less critical have been admitted to the Government Hospital at Pipili.
According to reports, villagers of Siula and Ujanipada villages clashed over past rivalry near the toll gate here in the afternoon. The rival groups have also ransacked the toll gate offices causing extensive damage to its property.
The situation was brought under control after police reached the spot. Palpable tension prevails in the area following the clash.
In another similar incident, three persons were injured in Dandamukundapur village near here following a clash between two groups over the sprinkling of colours during Holi celebrations today. The injured have been admitted to the local hospital.
