Rourkela: The Director general GST Intelligence (DGGI) unearthed another Rs 5-crore GST fraud in Odisha’s Jharsuguda on Tuesday. The team of officials led Deputy Director Kunal Kumar also arrested a man for his alleged involvement in the GST fraud.
Following his arrest, the man, Ejaz Ahmed was presented before the Rourkela SDJM Court.
During an inquiry it was found out that Ejaz established two companies, namely Sony Iron & Steel and Harihar Enterprises and showed business transactions worth around Rs 27 crore. Based on fake invoices, the accused defrauded the government of Rs 5 crore towards the GST Input Credit Tax.
On December 21, the GST Enforcement wing arrested three persons on charges of committing GST fraud by creating fake invoices. The three accused allegedly defrauded Rs 42 crore GST through fake documents mentioning business transactions worth Rs 220 crore.
