GST raid on textile store in Odisha’s Balangir

Bhubaneswar: A team of Goods and Services Tax (GST) officials today raided a textile store at Kantabanji in Odisha’s Balangir district.

A team led by Balangir GST Deputy Commissioner Kishore Chandra Meher raided Khuas Textile of Rohit Khuas at Ward No. 9 of Kantabanji over allegations of tax evasion, sources said.

The GST officials checked stocks at the cloth store and its godown and collected details on the transactions, sources added.

As per the direction of CT and GST Commissioner in Odisha, at least eight GST officials from Balangir along with the local police raided the textile store, Meher said.

“We raided Khuas Textile to check their stocks and collect details on their transactions in connection with the allegations of tax evasion. We will impose penalties on the proprietor of the store if there are any irregularities regarding the payment of GST,” Meher added.

The GST Deputy Commissioner claimed that they have certain information regarding the unaccounted sales and purchases by the textile store.
