Guest limit for marriages, funerals increased in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The guest limit for marriages and funerals in the state capital has further increased as Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) withdrew its previous restriction on gathering of people in the social functions.

Keeping in view the improvement in COVID situation, the civic body withdrew the previous order issued on October 4 that capped the number of guests in functions related to marriage, death ritual, thread ceremony limit to 50.

With this, a maximum of 250 guests, as stipulated by the state Government earlier on August 31 this year, will be allowed in the social events within the BMC limit with effect from November 1.

Yesterday, Khordha district reported 157 fresh cases, out of which 142 were from Bhubaneswar. The number of active cases in the state capital stands at 3,015.
