Gujarat HC stays on conduct of Ratha Jatra in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: There will be no Ratha Jatra in Ahmedabad of Gujarat state this year as the Gujarat High Court stays on conduct of the annual fete in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A division bench comprising Chief Judge of the Gujarat High Court Justice Vikram Nath and Justice JB Pardiwala directed a stay on conduct of Ratha Jatra and associated activities in Ahmedabad.

The Gujarat government informed the court that chariots will be pulled for 18 kms in Ahmedabad and around seven to eight lakh people will participate in Ratha Jatra.

Following this, the court passed an order for the stay on the annual fete keeping in view the situation emerged out of COVID-19 pandemic.
