The Commission had earlier recommended for registration of cases against police personnel involved in the firing under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

It may be mentioned here that five persons including a two old were killed in police firing during an anti-Maoist operation in Kurtamgarh forest near Gumudumaha on the night of July 8. These men were returning home from Baliguda after withdrawing their wages under MGNREGS from a bank in an auto-rickshaw.
