Bhubaneswar: The Crime branch of Odisha Police has taken over the case of gun attack on Health Minister Naba Das at Brajarajnagar today.

A seven-member special Investigating team comprising cyber expert, ballistic expert and officers of Crime Branch has been formed, sources said.

DSP Ramesh Chandra Dora is leading the team. Dora along with a ballistic expert reached Jharsuguda by a special helicopter to begin the probe. CID-CB ADG Arun Bothara also accompanied them to personally supervise and monitor the investigation.

The Crime Branch team will interrogate the accused ASI and try to find out the reason behind his attack on the minister, said an official.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a Crime Branch probe into the incident.

Notably, Das sustained bullet injuries when police ASI Gopal Das opened fire on him at Brajarajnagar earlier in the day.

The minister was airlifted to Bhubaneswar and admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition.
