Gun battle breaks out between Maoists and police in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: An exchange of fire took place between Maoists and security forces near Balimela reservoir in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today. No casualties have been reported so far in the incident.

According to reports, the gun battle broke out between the red rebels and a joint team of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh security forces this morning near Ramaguda village in the district.

The Maoists reportedly blasted landmines during the exchange of fire.

It may be recalled here that seven Maoists were killed in separate encounters with security personnel in Kandhamal and Balangir districts recently.
