Guna’s widow alleges ‘conspiracy’ in arrest of mother-in-law

Odisha Sun Times Bureau

Puri, Mar 2:

Family members of deceased former BJD councillor Talachhu Bhagaban Mohapatra alias Guna Singhari today termed as “political conspiracy” the arrest of his mother Saradhamani Mahapatra by the Puri police late on Saturday night in connection with the murderous attack on Odisha Law minister Maheswar Mohanty on February 21.

Saradhamani is in jail now after being charged with attempt to murder (307) and conspiracy (120B).

Guna’s widow Laxmipriya Mohapatra told the media today that her mother-in-law was “innocent” and was in no way connected with the attack on the minister. She said the police, which had neither a search warrant nor a warrant to arrest, dragged her mother-in-law out of their house besides ransacking cupboards and almirahs.

“It is part of a conspiracy… a political conspiracy. But who will question them?” she asked..
