Gusty wind to lash Odisha as low pressure likely to form in 48 hrs

Bhubaneswar: Gusty surface winds and thunderstorms are likely to lash many places of Odisha as a low pressure is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.

“The Cyclonic circulation over the east-central Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Andaman Sea now lies over the east-central Bay of Bengal and extends up to mid-tropospheric level. Under its influence a low-pressure area likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. It is likely to move west north-westward and become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours,” a bulletin of the IMD said.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a warning in this regard for several districts of Odisha till June 12.

Day 4 to 5: Squally weather with wind speed 40-50 kmph very likely over north and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal & off Odisha coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast, north and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal from June 10 onwards till further notice.
