Half-burnt body of female Sarpanch candidate recovered in Odisha

The half-burnt body of a female Sarpanch candidate identified as Mini Dalabehera was today recovered from a forest in Gajapati district of Odisha.

Mini, the former Sarpanch of Baghamari panchayat under Mohana Block, had filed her nomination paper on January 12 for the post of Sarpanch for upcoming rural elections in the state.

However, the popular candidate of Baghamari panchayat was found missing for last two days fueling rumours of she being kidnapped.

Family members of Mini had filed a missing complaint at Chandragiri police outpost.

Acting on the complaint, police today recovered the half-burnt body of the Sarpanch candidate from a jungle near Sagada hill.

Police sent the body for post-mortem and begun investigations into the incident.
