Hardcore Maoist Samaya Madkam lays down arms before police in Odisha’s Kandhamal

Phulbani: An ultra leader identified as Samaya Madkam, who was previously ill-reputed for his notorious activities, surrendered today before police in Kandhamal district. He was the committee member of Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division’s eighth company.

Samaya alias Naresh alias Amit alias Rupesh alias Punit hails from Mangalguda village under Kistaram police limits in Sukma district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh. He is the son of Laxman Madkam.

According to an official source, Madkam had joined the outlawed CPI (Maoist) faction at the age of ten years. The red rebel was involved in several violent activities and has 17 criminal cases pending against him in different police stations of Kandhamal, Boudh, and Nuapada districts of Odisha.

Samaya got disillusioned with the behaviour of senior cadres in the Maoist faction as they always subjected the subordinate cadres to both mental and physical harassment.

Hence, the ultra leader decided to renounce the illegal activities and join the mainstream of society, informed Southern Range IG of Police Jai Narayan Pankaj in a press conference.
