Hardcore woman Maoist surrenders before Odisha police  

Malkangiri: Hardcore woman Maoist Ide Madi, who was carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on her head, today surrendered before police in Malkangiri district.

Madi (23), who was a member of the Kalimela Area Committee, Malkangiri Division under the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of CPI (M), today surrendered before Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena expressing resentment over Maoist activities that led to death of several innocent civilians.

She also cited that several developmental activities and frequent anti-Maoist operations by security forces in interior areas of Kalimela also encouraged her to shun violence and surrender.

Madi, who was active in the banned outfit from 2014-2018, was involved in killing of five persons during 2017-2018.

Sources said Madi will receive monetary assistance as per the Surrender and Rehabilitation scheme of the State Government. She will also get financial assistance for house, studies and training in a trade or vocation of her liking.
