Hastashilpi Silk India Expo now in Odisha’s capital

Bhubaneswar, June 8:

If you are a silk lover there is some news for you-‘’Hastashilpi-Silk India Expo -2014,  a 8-day exhibition-cum-sale of various silk products organised by Artisans and weavers’ welfare Association (AWWA) of Odisha in association with Go Coop is now on at The New Marrion Hotel here.

The silk expo, which was formally inaugurated by popular Odia film star Archita this evening, will continue till June 15 .

One of the organizers Abinand of AWWA said silk saree weavers, handloom clusters and silk co-operative societies from across India are exhibiting their products at more than 69 stalls in the expo.

“The idea is to reach out to the customers directly without the involvement of any middleman and help them access  a whole range of products woven by traditional weavers and artisans,” he said.

Mysore silk saris, crepe and georgette silk saris, chiffon silk saris, tassar silk saris and suit, Kanchipuram silk saris and wedding saris, designer fancy saris, Darmavaram silk saris, raw silk and tassar, jute silk saris, Dhaka silk saris, handloom silk cotton saris, silk blend saris and stole, silk shawls,silk blends fabrics/ furnishing, uppada, Gadwal silk saris and many more products have been showcased in this silk expo and are available at reasonable prices, he informed.

There is no entry fee for this exhibition, he added.
