HC-constituted SIT submits final report on Kunduli rape and suicide case

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court-constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged Kunduli minor girl rape and suicide case today submitted its final report in the court. The SIT had submitted its interim report on the case in the Odisha HC in a sealed envelope on December 17.

After the SIT sought more time to complete its investigation into the case, the HC’s bench comprising Justice KS Jhaveri and Justice KR Mohapatra had fixed the next hearing date on December 23.

The HC today also asked the SIT to submit the final report on the Kunduli rape and suicide in a trial court.

Worth mentioning, a girl student studying Class IX had alleged gang-rape by four persons in uniform near Kunduli under Pottangi police station limits in Koraput district on October 10, 2017. The minor girl three months later committed suicide.

Though the case was probed by the Crime Branch, the HC had shown its dissatisfaction about the investigation. Later the HC had appointed an SIT to inquire into the allegations.
