Headmistress arrested for thrashing class-II girl student in Odisha

Jagatsinghpur: Headmistress of a government school was arrested for allegedly thrashing a girl student of class-II in Balitutha area under Kujang police limits of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.

Lina Nanda, headmistress of Balitutha Upper Primary School, was arrested under section 307 of the IPC after the parents of the student lodged a police complaint.

According to reports, the teacher thrashed the girl with a stick on Saturday, as a result of which the student sustained injuries on her hand, ear, back and cheek. The victim narrated the ordeal to her parents, following which the complaint was lodged with Kujang police leading to the arrest of the woman.

She was forwarded to court after the arrest and later sent to judicial custody due to rejection of her bail plea.
