Heads of 4 youth tonsured by villagers over alleged theft in Odisha

Ganjam: Villagers thrashed and tonsured heads of four youths for alleged thievery in Jodabandha village under Kadua panchayat of Jagannathprasad block, today.

According to reports, the four miscreants has entered the house of one Prabhakar Nayak of the same village at about 3 am today. Prabhakar, who was sleeping on the roof heard noises and came downstairs to check when he found them in his house. He screamed and the thieves scrambled, but were caught by villagers of neighbouring Narendrapur village.

The youth were then beaten black and blue and their heads were partially shaved by the locals. Their hands were tied and they were marched on the streets. The police reached the spot to interrogate the culprits after being informed by the villagers.

Two mobile phones, one motorbike, a wallet and Rs. 2,000 cash was seized from their possession. The cops registered a case and forwarded the four, to court.

Furthermore, the police will also investigate and apprehend the persons involved in physically harassing the youth, informed the police station in-charge.
