Health centre inside Odisha’s Jagannath Temple soon

Puri: In a bid to provide first aid services to the devotees and servitors, Odisha government decided to set up a primary health centre (PHC) inside Jagannath Temple complex here.

The decision has been taken to provide healthcare services to devotees and servitors on emergency basis, informed Health & Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena during his visit to Puri on Tuesday.

A doctor along with nurses and other support staff will be appointed at the PHC to attend to the patients, he said.

Besides, an ambulance will be kept in front of the Singhadwar (main gate) of the temple to provide emergency services.

The move came for the first time in view of several incidents reported on premises of the temple where the devotees get wounded and servitors sustained injuries.

He also announced that a toilet will be in place adjacent to the temple premises to maintain cleanliness at the centuries old Sri Mandir.
