Healthcare services hit at Remuna CHC as attendants ransack, lock hospital

Attendants vandalise the Government hospital protesting non-availability of doctors

Balasore: Healthcare services at Community Health Centre (CHC) has been disrupted after irate attendants ransacked and locked the the hospital last Friday protesting non-availability of doctors.

As per reports, chief doctor of the hospital is on leave from friday. Late night, a few critical patients had come to the hospital from remote areas but returned without treatment. Irate over this, the attendants vandalised the hospital and locked the main gate. They also did not allow paramedical staff to enter the hospital.

After receiving information, local MLA of Remuna Sudhanshu Parida reached the hospital to take stock of the situation. Besides, a police team headed by Remuna police station IIC was pressed into service to avoid any unpleasant situation. Today morning, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) sent a doctor to the hospital for treatment of outdoor patients.   

Meanwhile, locals alleged that the Remuna CHC which caters to the need of hundreds of people is run by only one chief doctor, a homeopathy doctor and a woman pharmacist.
