Heart hospital in partnership with Medanta Group on the anvil in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: A high-level team led by state Health Minister and local MLA Naba Kishore Das discussed today with Medanta Group regarding the management of an under-construction heart hospital in Jharsuguda town of this district, which is to come up in public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

A senior official said that as Care Group has expressed its reluctance and has already withdrawn from the project, the team comprising Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) Managing Director Brundha D, Special Secretary Ajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary Jasmine Pattnaik, Health Director Bijaya Mohapatra and Director of Advanced Cardiac Unit in Capital Hospital Dr Prabhat Kumar Das discussed with chairperson of the Medanta Group Naresh Trehan and chalked out detailed modalities.

The discussion also centred on a proposed cancer health facility and affordable healthcare.

State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department gave a presentation containing all data about the project. Construction of the hospital building is about to be completed. However, the State government will provide requisite machineries and equipments for the health facility, the source added.

Medanta Group will look after human resource and hospital management. With the State government’s ‘Make in Odisha’ programme still underway, various events are being organised these days to attract private investors to different projects in Odisha, including the health sector as well.

“Medanta is an established Group in healthcare sector in the country and it is a welcome step that the company has come forward to manage the heart hospital in Jharsuguda,” Minister Das stated.

Notably, an airport will soon be functional in Jharsuguda town adding on connectivity to major locations of the country. Discussion with the private party is said to have been successful and a high level team of the company’s delegates will soon visit and inspect available infrastructure for the purpose.
