Heat wave: 10 places in Odisha recorded day temperatures at 40 Degrees Celsius or above

Bhubaneswar: With mercury on the rise at many places in Odisha, at least ten places of the State today witnessed day temperatures at 40 Degrees Celsius or above.

Boudh recorded the highest maximum (day) temperature at 41.8 Degrees Celsius. This was followed by Malkangiri (41.6), Titilagarh (41.5), Bolangir (41.5), Angul (41.3), Bhawanipatna (41.0), Jharsuguda (40.8), Nayagarh (40.6), and Sambalpur and Talcher each (40.4).

Due to prevailing Northwesterly and Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, the maximum (day) temperature is likely to be more than 40°C at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next four days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

In its evening bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 2 to 4°C over during 4th to 6th April, 2024. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during the day time between 1100 IST-1500 IST. Also, maximum temperature is likely to be between 39 to 41°C at few places over the districts of interior Odisha and between 37 to 39°C over the coastal districts of Odisha during next 3 to 4 days.”
