Heat wave condition: Technical educational institutions in Odisha to remain closed from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the prevailing heat wave condition in Odisha, the State government today directed the technical educational institutions to remain closed from tomorrow.

As per a decision taken by the Skill Development and Technical Education Department, classroom teaching at the technical educational institutions will be suspended from tomorrow till May 2, 2022.

However, exams at the technical educational institutions will be conducted as per schedule.

Earlier, the School and Mass Education Department directed all government and private schools to remain closed from April 26 to April 30 in view of the heat wave situation.

All Anganwadi Centres in the State have been closed from April 26 to April 30, as per a decision taken by the Women and Child Development Department.

Classroom teaching (UG and PG) in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) coming under the Department of Higher Education, Odisha has been suspended from April 27, 2022, to May 2, 2022 due to the heat wave condition.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted that heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in north interior and coastal areas of the state till May 1.

The maximum temperature is likely to remain three to five degrees Celsius above normal at many places in interior Odisha and two to three degrees Celsius above the normal at few places in coastal region.
