Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent North-westerly and Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, heat wave conditions are very likely to continue in several districts of Odisha till May 3, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during the day hours between 11.00 AM and 3.00 PM. IMD forecasted no large change in the maximum (day) temperature during the next three to four days at many places over the district of Odisha.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed marked fall at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, appreciable fall at a few places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and in one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were appreciably below normal at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, markedly above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, and at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at one or two places over the districts of Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha & at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

The highest maximum temperature of 44.3°C was recorded yesterday at Angul and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.4°C was recorded at Jharsuguda and Sundargarh in the plains of Odisha.
