Heat wave conditions grip Odisha as nine towns breach 40 mark

Odisha is bracing for sweltering conditions as nine towns in Odisha crossed the 40 degree Celsius mark today.

The western Odisha town of Bolangir remained the hottest place in the state for the second consecutive day with 42 degree Celsius.

Six other towns also crossed the 40 degree Celsius mark. The towns are: Angul (41.1), Jharsuguda (40), Sundargarh (40), Hirakud (40.5), Bhawanipatna (41), Titlagarh (41.6), Malkangiri (40.4) and Sonepur (40.4).

The regional meteorological office predicted that rain/thunder shower is likely to occur at one or two places over coastal parts of the state from Monday. Temperature will further increase from Thursday, the weather bulletin said.
