Heat wave conditions to prevail in Odisha for next 5 days; Thunderstorm likely in these dists today

Bhubaneswar: Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in Odisha during the next five days, the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted today.

“There will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next 5 days. It is likely to be 42 degree Celsius or more at few places during the next 5 days over some districts of interior Odisha (Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Jharsuguda and Bargarh), the Meteorological Centre predicted.

Consequently, hot and discomfort weather very likely to prevail. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during daytime between 11 am and 3 pm, it said.

On the other hand, several districts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm by the morning of tomorrow.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Gajapati and Ganjam, the Meteorological Centre added.
