Heat Wave conditions very likely in Odisha districts; IMD issues Orange Warning for next 3 days

Bhubaneswar: Some places in at least 12 districts of Odisha are very likely to witness Heat Wave to Severe Heat Wave conditions during next three days. However, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over 13 districts of the State in the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar forecasted today.

Orange Warning has been issued in view of the Heat Wave conditions for the next three days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre said, “The Southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Karnataka, Goa, some parts of Konkan, most parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, some parts of Andhra Pradesh, entire southwest and some more parts west-central Bay of Bengal, some more parts of northwest Bay of Bengal and remaining parts of northeast Bay of Bengal. A north-south trough runs from cyclonic circulation over Southeast Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood to north interior Odisha at 0.9 km above mean sea level.”

Maximum (day) temperatures observed appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha, marked fall at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, appreciably fall at a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly above normal at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at one or two places over the districts of Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.

The highest maximum temperature of 44.8^oC was recorded at Jharsuguda and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.9^oC was recorded at Balasore in the plains of Odisha.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning (Be Prepared)- Heat Wave to Severe Heat Wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Boudh, Bolangir, Keonjhar.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heat Wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the district of Sundargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nayagarh and Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kalahandi.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning (Be Prepared)- Heat Wave to Severe Heat Wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the district of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Boudh, Bolangir and Keonjhar.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heat Wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the district of Sundargarh, Nuapada, Kandhamal and Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Angul and Dhenkanal and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning (Be Prepared)- Heat Wave to Severe Heat Wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the district of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur and Boudh.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heat Wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the district of Bolangir, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Kalahandi.

Thunderstorm with lightning and Gusty surface wind speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Boudh.
