Heat wave continues to grip Odisha; Titlagarh hottest at 44.2 deg C

Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull in the heat wave post cyclone Fani, blistering heat wave continued to grip major parts of Odisha today as mercury hovered above 40 degrees Celsius in ten places in the state.

Titlagarh in Western Odisha with a maximum day temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius was the hottest place in the state followed by Sambalpur (43.9), Jharsuguda (43.5), Hirakud (43.8) and Talcher (43.7).

The twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded a maximum temperature of 37.7 and 37.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

The local meteorological department said there would be no respite from the scorching summer as heat wave condition is likely to prevail over some parts of the state for next couple of days.
