Heat wave intensifies in Odisha; Angul hottest at 42.7

Most parts of Odisha came under an intense heat wave today throwing normal life out of gear.

While mercury touched 40 degrees and above in 10 places, six places recorded over 38 degrees.

The evening weather bulletin released by the IMD centre here this evening said the temperature would rise further in most parts of the state in the next 48 hours after which it would come down in coastal Odisha as rain or thundershower is likely in some parts of this region. However, there would be no change in the weather condition in the remaining parts of the state, it added.

Angul remained the hottest place with 42.7 degrees while nine other places recording 40 degrees and above were Bhubaneswar (40), Jharsuguda (40.9), Sundargarh (40), Hirakud (41.1), Talcher (41.5), Bhawanipatna (41.2), Bolangir (41), Titlagarh (40.5) and Malkangiri (40.6).

Besides, temperature was 38 degrees and above at Baleswar (39.8), Chandbali (39.2), Baripada (38.5), Keonjhar (39), Sambalpur (39.8) and Sonepur (39.8).
