Heat wave intensifies in Odisha as monsoon plays hard to get

Bhubaneswar, June 12:

Most parts of Odisha came under the grip of intense heat wave today.

heat wave odishaTemperature soared up to 40 degree Celsius and above in 16 places with Titlagarh recording the highest temperature at 44.5 degree Celsius.

Besides, temperature in Chandbali was 41.8 followed by Bhubaneswar (41.6), Angul (41.7), Baripada (41.5), Jharsuguda (42.9), Keonjhargarh (40.5), Sambalpur (43.2), Sundargarh (42), Hirakud (42.9), Talcher (43), Bhawanipatna (42.5), Bolangir (41), Malkangiri (42.6) and Sonepur (43).

The people in the state capital had a bad time today as rise in temperature was accompanied by intense humidity since the morning. As a result, the busy thoroughfares and marketplaces in the city wore a deserted look by noon.

The local Met office in a release this evening said, the temperature would recede in the next 48 hours as the state would receive increased rainfall from June 15.
