Heat wave: Temperature rises to 40 degree C at 9 places in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: It is not even April yet, and people in many parts of the state are already in the grip of scorching heat with the mercury hovering around 40 degree Celsius at nine places.

As per the information shared by the Regional Meteorological Centre, as many as nice places recorded the maximum temperature (day temperature) of 40 degree Celsius and above on Thursday.

With 40.8 degree Celsius, Boudh was the hottest place in the state on Thursday followed by Bhubaneswar (40.4) Balangir (40.4), Sonepur (40.2) and Angul (40.1). Besides,  Baripada, Malkangiri, Titlagarh and Nayagarh recorded 40 degree Celsius.

The MeT Centre further predicted that the day temperature is likely to further rise by two to three degree Celsius over the districts of interior Odisha during next two to three days.

“The maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by three to four degree Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha including the capital city during next four to five days,” the weathermen said.
