Heatwave grips Odisha capital; mercury touches 40 degree C before noon

Bhubaneswar: Amidst scorching summer this year, heatwave gripped large parts of Odisha including the State capital for second consecutive day with 40 degree Celsius (day temperature) before noon.

The mercury shot up to 40 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar by 11.30 am today affecting normal life. Yesterday, the capital city had recorded the maximum temperature 40.8 degree Celsius.

For the first time this summer, the mercury had touched 40.2 degree Celsius in the city on April 18.

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, forecast rise in temperature across Odisha from today.

According to weather forecast, many places in Odisha are likely to witness sharp temperature rise by 3-5 degree Celsius.

Besides, the heatwave is on the card in a few places from April 25.
