Heatwave to continue across Odisha during next 2 days; Orange alert issued

Bhubaneswar: Extreme heatwave conditions are likely to continue across Odisha during next two days, the IMD stated.

According to Regional Meteorological Centre of IMD, there will be no large change in maximum temperature during next 36 hours. The day temperature is very likely to be 40 degree C or above normal by 3-5 degree C at many places over the districts of Odisha. The mercury will gradually fall by 2 to 4 degree Celsius during subsequent two days.

The MeT issued orange warning for several places during next 24 hours.

As per the latest weather bulletin, heatwave condition very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Cuttack and Khordha. Orange warning has been issued for these districts for tomorrow.

Yellow warning: Heatwave condition very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Deogarh, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh during the period.

Similarly, Heatwave condition very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Boudh from April 21 to 22.

Thereafter, rainfall is likely to bring relief from scorching summer heat.

According to MeT, Thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Nabarangpur, Sundargarh, Rayagada and Koraput between April 22 and 23.

Thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal from April 23 to 24. The thunderstorm with lightening very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Boudh during the period.

Thunderstorm with lightening very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada between April 24 and 25.
