Heavy downpour in Odisha, Malkangiri receives highest rainfall

Bhubaneswar: Odisha experienced heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours due to a well-marked low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining areas of Odisha coast. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during next 24 hours.

Average rainfall in the state in the last 24 hours was recorded at 9.9 mm, with Malkangiri district receiving the highest rainfall of 30 mm.

As many as six blocks in the state have recorded rainfall of more than 50 mm. The blocks are Raighar (70), Kalimela (63), Phulbani (55.6), G. Udayagiri (53.8), Aska (52.2) and Balianta (52).

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued heavy rainfall ‘red’ warning for Jajpur, Kendrapara, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh and Bargarh districts.
