Heavy downpour to lash several Odisha districts during next 3 days

Bhubaneswar: With the southwest monsoon has completely covered Odisha, heavy downpour may lash many districts during next three days.

The southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha. The heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely occur at one or two places in northern, western, southern and a few coastal districts of the State from today till June 17, a weather bulletin by Bhubaneswar MeT said today.

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has issued yellow warning for several districts till June 17 morning.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area over North coastal Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand now lies over south Jharkhand & neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto mid-tropospheric levels tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move west-northwestwards.

Weather warning for districts of Odisha for next 3 days:

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of June 14 upto 0830 hrs IST of June 15)

Yellow warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh and Sambalpur.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Balangir.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of June 15 upto 0830 hrs IST of June 16)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Angul and Deogarh.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of June 16 upto 0830 hrs IST of June 17)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Keonjhar.

Yesterday, the light to moderate rain/thundershower had occurred at most places over the districts of Odisha with very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the district of PURI of South Coastal Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of CUTTACK, DHENKANAL and JHARSUGUDA of North Odisha and MALKANGIRI, KORAPUT and NUAPADA of South Interior Odisha.
