Heavy rain disrupts normal life in west, north, south Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Aug 5:

Heavy rain lashed most parts of west, north and south Odisha under the influence of a deep depression over north Chhattisgarh, adjoining Jharkhand and East Madhya Pradesh even as  the weather across most parts of coastal region remained more or less dry.

The late evening bulletin issued by the Bhubaneswar Met Centre said morning’s Deep Depression had moved west-northwestwards and weakened into a Depression this afternoon.

The Depression, the bulletin said, moved further west-northwestwards and lay centered at 5.30 pm over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhood, close to South of Sidhi.

It would move in West-Northwest direction during next 24 hours and weaken gradually further, the Met bulletin said, adding, rain/thundershower would occur at many places over interior Odisha and at one or two places over coastal Odisha during the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is likely occur at one or two places over interior Odisha, it warned.

With 402 mm , Pallahara in Angul district recorded the highest rainfall on Tuesday.
