Heavy rain likely to lash these Odisha districts on July 22

Bhubaneswar: The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha on July 22 (Saturday).

The low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast now lies over south Odisha – north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal with associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards across south Odisha – north Andhra Pradesh coasts during next two days, said the IMD in its weather bulletin today.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Raisen, Chhindwara, Durg, center of the low pressure area over south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh and thence east-southeastwards to East-central Bay of Bengal extending up to 2.1km above mean sea level, added the IMD.

A cyclonic circulation lies over south Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood extending up to 2.1 km above mean sea level, it said.

As per the prediction, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Deogarh and Boudh on July 22.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha on the day, said the IMD forecast.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower has occurred at most places over the districts of North Odisha, South Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Bargarh, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal and Bolangir of Odisha during the last 24 hours, said the IMD.
