Heavy rain, thunderstorm to lash Odisha’s 8 districts

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain accompanied with thunderstorm is likely to lash eight districts across the State till 6.30 PM today.

As per latest bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre, heavy rain accompanied with lightning and thunderstorm will occur in districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul and Deogarh till 6.30 PM today.

Besides, the IMD said that the depression over north interior Odisha and neighbourhood moved west­northwestwards and weakened into a well marked low pressure area and lies over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood. Under its influence, heavy rain accompanied with thunderstorm will occur in districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur,Nuapada and Bargarh districts in next 24 hours. Besides, a few places in south interior Odisha will also experience rain during the period.

The weathermen further predicted that a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on August 13. As a result, heavy to very heavy rain would occur at various places across the state.
