Koraput: With low pressure induced rain continues to lash several parts of the state, the water level of Machkund Reservoir is rising due to heavy downpour in the upper catchment areas.
Sources the water level of the reservoir currently stands at 2588.08 feet as against the danger mark of 2590 feet. Following this, the dam authorities have opened one sluice gate to release the rain water.
Around 1,000 cusecs of water is currently being released through gate number-8 of the hydroelectric project, said an official.
Meanwhile, the weathermen have predicted heavy rainfall in districts like Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur from 8.30 AM of July 9 till 8.30 AM on July 10.
Again from 8.30 AM on July 10 till 8.30 AM July 11, heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places in districts like Koraput, Bhadrak , Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal, the regional MeT centre said.
