Heavy rainfall in many Odisha districts from Aug 5

Bhubaneswar: Rainfall activities will increase in the state from August 5, as per the forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here.

As many as 10 districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall on August 5, cautioned the weathermen.

“The monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Amritsar, Chandigarh, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, Daltonganj, Digha and thence eastsoutheastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. The Northsouth trough from south Chhattisgarh to Comorin area across Telangana, Rayalaseema
and Tamilnadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists,” read a bulletin issued by the MeT Centre last evening.

Issuing Yellow Warning, the MeT Centre said  heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kandhamal from 8.30 am of August 5 till 8.30 am of August 6.

Besides, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Ganjam, Khordha, Kandhamal, Kalahandi from 8.30 am of August 6 to 8.30 am of August 7.

Heavy rainfall is also very likely at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Gajapati during the period.
