Bhubaneswar: In view of the heavy rainfall, holiday has been declared for government and private schools in ten districts of Odisha for today.
The districts are Angul, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur and Nuapada.
The decision was taken by the respective district administrations due to waterlogging and flood-like situation in several areas due to the incessant downpour.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warning for many districts of the state for today.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls (>20cm) very likely to occur over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sambalpur, the IMD predicted and issued Red Warning for these districts.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal, the agency forecasted and issued Orange Warning for these districts.
Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Jajpur and Bhadrak, it added and issued Yellow Warning for these districts.
