Heavy rainfall likely in Odisha as low pressure forms over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, a Low Pressure Area has formed over the same region, today. The system is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha.

It is likely to move west-northwestwards along the monsoon trough during the next 2-3 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Deogarh and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh today, the Regional Meteorological Centre forecasted.

On the other hand, another Low Pressure Area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood around 27th July. Under its influence, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely to occur over east and adjoining central and northwest India during 26th-27th July.
