Heavy rainfall likely in these Odisha districts due to low pressure over BoB

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today forecast heavy rainfall in five districts of Odisha till 8.30 AM of October 20 under the influence of a low pressure over Bay of Bengal.

While issuing yellow warning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts, the weathermen stated heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts.

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 19.10.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 20.10.2020):

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at a few places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow warning (be updated): 1. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam. 2. Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.10.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 21.10.2020).

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha

Yellow warning (be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.10.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 22.10.2020).

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange warning (be prepared): 1. Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam and Puri. Yellow warning (be updated): 2. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.10.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 23.10.2020).

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow warning ( be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati and Kendrapara.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea area of westcentral Bay of Bengal till October 22, 2020.

The Met department stated the cyclonic circulation over eastcentral Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood now lies over central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood and now extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a low pressure area is very likely to develop over the same region during next 24 hours.
