Bhubaneswar: While depression-induced heavy rainfall has caused flood-like situation in Odisha, several parts of the state are likely to experience similar weather conditions from August 18 as a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around August 19.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal around August 19.

Under its influence, widespread light/ moderate rainfall is likely to occur over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and east Madhya Pradesh during August 18-19, the IMD predicted.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur over Odisha on August 18 and 19, the agency added.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued heavy rainfall warning (Yellow Warning) for several districts of Odisha on August 18 and 19.

August 18: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.

August 19: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Nuapada.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
