Heavy rainfall in south, interior Odisha

Bhubaneswar, July 14:

While most parts of south and interior Odisha received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure, the local Met office has predicted more rains  in the state in the next 24 hours.

rain “Yesterday’s low pressure that had centred over north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal districts of Odisha, is now centred over coastal Odisha and the neighbouring West Bengal. Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at most parts of the state while heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in some interior districts in the next 24 hours”, Ramesh Kumar Nayak, duty officer, Met Centre, Bhubaneswar, told the media this evening.

Meanwhile, rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours (till 5.30 pm today) was highest in Malkangiri (124.8 mm).

Rainfall recorded in other areas is as follows:

Cuttack (23.6 mm), Bhubaneswar (17.4), Angul (26.4), Baripada (20), Keonjhargarh (46.6), Talcher (76), Bhawanipatna (77), Bolangir (20), Koraput (78), Phulbani (66), Titlagarh (89), Dhenkanal (63), Sonepur (10), Hirakud (10.2), Baripada (20) and Baleswar (10 mm).
