Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre today issued thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warning for as many as 25 districts of Odisha amid a deep depression over Bay of Bengal.

The districts likely to be affected are Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Balangir, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Maturbhanj, Nayagarh, Deogarh, Kalahandi and Sonepur.

"Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and intense rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Balangir, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Maturbhanj, Nayagarh, Deogarh, Kalahandi and Sonepur between 2 pm and 6 pm today," a bulletin of the Meteorological Centre said.
