Heavy rains lash Odisha; to continue for three more days

Bhubaneswar, Aug 3:

Most parts of Odisha received heavy to very heavy rainfall under the influence of a cyclonic circulation that took the shape of a low pressure over North Bay of Bengal today.

The Sambalpur city in Western Odisha recorded unprecedented rainfall of 489.7 mm in the last 24 hours (till 5.30 PM today) . The city received 380 mm rainfall in just six hours between the morning and noon today.

Rainfall in other places recorded during the period was  Hirakud (160.6),Sonepur (134), Chandbali (86), Bolangir (74), Titlagarh (58.8), Phulbani (58),  Baleswar (50.7), Paradip (50), Koraput (45), Jharsuguda (28.2),  Bhubaneswar (23.9), Bhawanipatna (22), Daringbadi (17), Cuttack (16.8) and Puri (11.2).
