Heavy to very heavy rainfall to lash 17 Odisha districts on September 4; check details

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over 17 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre today issued Yellow Warning for next five days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre said, “The monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to run along the foothills of the Himalayas. The cyclonic circulation over northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood persists and now extends up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours. A trough runs from the cyclonic circulation over northeast Bay of Bengal to north Coastal Andhra Pradesh between 1.5 and 3.1 Km above mean sea level. A cyclonic circulation lies over Interior Odisha between 4.5 and 7.6 Km above mean sea level. A cyclonic circulation lies over Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana between 4.5 and 5.8 Km above mean sea level.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 37.2oC was recorded at Chandbali and Jharsuguda and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.0oC was recorded at Angul and Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Sonepur.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Angul, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Rayagada, Bolangir, Nuapada, Ganjam and Gajapati.
