Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha surged to 2388 with 143 new cases were reported today, informed State Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

A total of 3324 samples was tested in the past 24 hours of which 143 came out positive in 16 districts. With this, the total number of active cases now stands at 1054. While

Of 143, 132 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres and 11 are local contacts.

As per the data shared by I&PR Department, the highest number of 41 cases was reported from red zone Ganjam district followed by Balasore (24), Sonepur (17) and Balangir (13) today. Similarly, Kendrapara district registered 9 cases, Nuapada 8, Mayurbhanj 8, Gajapati and Sundargarh 4 each, Sambalpur, Bhadrak, Angul and Khordha reported 3 cases each, Deogarh 1 and Kalahandi 1.

The Southern district Rayagada made a maiden entry to the list of COVID-19 with one case. With this, the infections now have spread to all 30 districts.
