Here’s official stand on Odisha doctor who tested COVID +ve after vaccine jab

Bhubaneswar: A 71-year-old contractual doctor working as an Assistant Surgeon at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH), who had tested positive for COVID-19 seventeen days after receiving the second dose of vaccine, tested negative for the virus in an RT-PCR test conducted at Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar, official sources said today.

“His repeat RT-PCR test at RMRC yesterday came negative for Covid. His antibody test at RMRC yesterday showed very high antibody presence. RMRC is now re-testing the original sample which came positive for Covid at Ispat General Hospital (IGH),” the sources said.

The septuagenarian was administered first dose of COVID-19 vaccine (Covishield) on January 16 and second dose on February 15. However, he developed COVID symptoms on March 1.

He underwent RT-PCR test at IGH on March 4, which came out Covid-19 positive. He is currently under home isolation.
